High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Robert E. Freed (born May 4, 1919, in Salt Lake City) was an American entertainment mogul and prominent civil rights leader in the state of Utah. Together with his brothers Dan, David and Peter he rescued Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah from the brink of collapse after World War II and helped develop it into a first-class family amusement resort. He was fiercely dedicated to the causes of equality, when the Freed family and their partner, Ranch Kimball, took over the lease of Lagoon, the terms forbade blacks in the swimming pool and the ballroom in accordance with a Farmington town ordinance. By the late 1940s, Robert Freed had succeeded in fully opening Lagoon to blacks, and when his company acquired the Rainbow Gardens, later known as the Terrace Ballroom, the same policy was adopted. He died on July 17, 1974 in Salt Lake City of cancer.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Blue Cheer were an American psychedelic blues-rock band that initially performed and recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and were sporadically active from that point on until 2009. Based in San Francisco, Blue Cheer played in a psychedelic blues-rock style, and are also credited as being pioneers of heavy metal (their cover of "Summertime Blues" is sometimes cited as the first in the genre), punk rock, stoner rock, doom metal, experimental rock, and grunge. According to Tim Hills in his book, The Many Lives of the Crystal Ballroom, "Blue Cheer was the epitome of San Francisco psychedelia. The band is named after a street brand of LSD and promoted by renowned LSD chemist and former Grateful Dead patron, Owsley Stanley." Jim Morrison of The Doors called the group, "The single most powerful band I've ever seen."

A four-volume set of romantic dramas by Australian director Baz Luhrmann. 'Australia' (2008) is a sweeping historical epic set in northern Australia during1941. Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman) inherits a vast cattle ranch in the unforgiving Australian outback and reluctantly teams up with a rough-edged drover (Hugh Jackman) to drive her 2,000 head of cattle hundreds of miles over some of the world's most desolate landscape. Ewan McGregor stars in 'Moulin Rouge' (2001) as Christian, an aspiring bohemian writer eking out a living in late 19th century Paris, who falls tragically in love with its biggest star, Satine (Kidman). In 'Romeo and Juliet' (1996) Luhrmann transposes Shakespeare's tragic romance to the futuristic urban backdrop of Verona Beach, California. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Finally, in 'Strictly Ballroom' (1992), Paul Mercurio plays Scott, a talented dancer with a streak of individualism that does not endear him either to his partners, the judges of the Pan-Pacific Grand Prix, or his ambitious dance tutor mum (Shirley Hastings). Frumpy Fran (Tara Morice) is the only woman who will partner him, and she utilises her Spanish background to bring heart, soul and pasa doblé rhythm to Scott's ambitious style.
